Dan Bertrand
E nterprise Technology Officer, GM Account, and EDS Fellow

Dan Bertrand, an EDS Fellow, is the enterprise technology officer for the GM Account, responsible for leading the development of technical strategy and standards for the account globally. The title EDS Fellow is awarded to the corporation’s most innovative thought leaders in recognition of their exceptional achievements.
As an EDS Fellow, Bertrand helps to develop enterprisewide initiatives that shape the future of EDS.
Immediately before accepting his current assignment, he served as the lead strategist for the Enterprise Information Technology (EIT) Strategy and Planning team. In this capacity, he helps set and implement EDS’ corporate technology strategy. Before joining EIT, Dan served as the chief technology officer for EDS E Solutions — Americas, a role in which he was responsible for E Solutions’ delivery improvement strategies. Previously, Bertrand was chief technologist for EDS’ Technology and Engineering Solution Centers, which comprise more than 10,000 technical professionals in 40 centers around the world.
Before joining EDS, Bertrand spent more than 10 years engineering control systems for high-volume machine tool systems. While in this industry, he held increasingly more responsible roles such as control systems engineer, engineering manager and director of operations — Control Systems.
Bertrand has been extremely influential in developing EDS’ service and technology strategy. He represented EDS at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences and — for eight years — on the Executive Committee of the ANSI CIM Standards Board. He is frequently asked to consult with client teams on performance optimization. His consulting engagements have extended into many segments of the manufacturing industry, including tire manufacturing, steel making, and motorcycle and automobile assembly.
Bertrand holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technologies from Wayne State University and a master of business administration degree from the University of Detroit, where he achieved national recognition from the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society for scholastic achievement.
In his spare time, Dan Bertrand enjoys golf and bicycle riding.
