New program is the first to certify IT Specialists based on an independent assessment of skills and experience
 Developed by The Open Group along with platinum members, Capgemini, IBM and EDS, the IT Specialist Certification (ITSC) offers an independent, comprehensive, global certification for determining the skills, experience and knowledge of professional specialists within several different technical focus areas.

program for IT Architects establishes an industry benchmark
 Recognizing the industry demand for experienced IT Architects, The Open Group
launched the first independent, comprehensive IT Architect Certification program.
The program defines global standards for measuring the skills and experience
of IT architects, and for the operation of IT architecture practices within enterprises.

New POSIX® certification addresses
predictability in realtime computing services
The Open Group and IEEE have introduced a POSIX® certification to aid predictability
in operating system environments that involve realtime services. The certification
is based on the criteria for bounded response times in Application Profile
PSE54, which is part of the IEEE 1003.13™-2003 standard, and complements
the existing certification program for the base POSIX 1003.1™ standard.

New UDEF Forum established to develop
a Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) Registry
The Open Group set up a new UDEF Forum, which aims to establish the Universal
Data Element Framework (UDEF) as the universally-used classification system
for data element concepts.
