SIF Certification News

SIF 2 Certification is here!

Certification is now available for SIF 2 Enabled Applications and Zone Integration Servers. The certification process remains basically the same, however there is a new tool for editing the SIF 2 Conformance Statements and new test harnesses for SIF 2. If your product is currently certified against 1.5 or 1.1, you will need to "Start a New Registration" to get your product certified for SIF 2. See the Guide for further information.

SIF 1.5 and 1.1 certification and renewal of certification remain available and unchanged.

The following documents should be read and understood prior to certification, since you will be required to agree to them during that process:

  • The SIF Certification Policy [PDF] defines the policies that govern the operation of the SIF Certification Program. These policies define what can be certified, what it means to be certified, and the process for achieving and maintaining certification.
  • The SIF Trademark License Agreement (TMLA) [PDF] covers terms and conditions of use of the trademark.
  • The Certification Agreement covers the terms and conditions of the certification service.

The significant highlights of the certification process are outlined below, further information can be found in the Guide to Certification.

  1. The SIF Certification program is administered on behalf of the Schools Interoperability Framework Association by its designated Certification Authority, The Open Group.
  2. You will be granted a license to use the trademark in connection with your product when your product has passed the applicable certification test suite(s) and you have formally agreed to all the required terms.
  3. The Trademark License Agreement must be fully signed by you and the Schools Interoperability Framework Association in order to have a product certified.
  4. You must enter into a Certification Agreement for each product registration. A certified product is subject to re-certification on a periodic basis as stated in the SIF Certification Policy [PDF].
  5. All product information supplied to the Certification Authority will be treated as confidential as required by the Certification Agreement.
  6. The Certification Authority may, from time to time, request proof that your product remains in compliance with the requirements outlined in the conformance requirements as per the SIF Certification Policy [PDF].
